YAZOO CITY, MS - A 49-year-old former Yazoo City car salesman has pleaded guilty to committing fraud by altering documents to make sales, Attorney General Jim Hood said today.

Under a plea agreement, Lee Vallery, of 451 Mallard St. in Greenville, will serve three years in prison and two years on post-release supervision. Washington County Circuit Court Judge Richard Smith also ordered Vallery to pay a combined $4,500 toward a fine, court costs and money to the Crime Victims Compensation Fund.

Vallery was a car salesman at Yazoo Motors in Yazoo City when he committed the mail fraud.

"Our investigation showed that the defendant was altering financial documents and increasing the income of potential car buyers in order to qualify them to purchase a vehicle," said Attorney General Hood.

The Public Integrity Division in Hoods office investigated and prosecuted the case.

Special Assistant Attorney General Jim Giddy handled the case.
